5th Government Procurement Conference of the Americas

The 5th Government Procurement Conference of the Americas starts today in Mexico City with the participation of sixty-five international participants including international experts and senior officials of government procurement from twenty-one different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. This annual meeting provides the best opportunity for dialogue, organization, and the strengthening of key connections between the Inter-American Government Procurement (IGPN) and multilateral and financial organizations. It is also considered to be a technical forum that seeks to disseminate the advances of the Government Procurement modernization systems in the Americas.
The 5th Conference is being co-organized by the Organization of American states and the Secretariat for Public Administration of the Government of Mexico, and it will take place on September 02-04, 2009 at the Sheraton Hotel, Centro Histórico in Mexico City.
The Conference counts with the participation of important international experts and heads of Government Procurement Offices in the Americas. Some of the topics to be discussed are: Tendencies in the systems Modernization of Government Procurement, Systems of Cataloguing, Institutionalization and Legal reforms of the systems of Public Contracting, Framework agreement, reverse Auction, Technological Innovations in Government Procurement, Strategies for the participation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Contracting consultancies and services.
The IGPN meeting includes presentations on different collaborative programs that support IGPN activities and have been recently launched by the Inter-American Development bank (IADB), the International Development Research Center (IDRC/ICA) and the Organization of American States (OAS) along with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
